Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve physical properties of Al alloy by providing a modifier consisting of Na2CO3, MgCO3, ZnO, MnO2, CaO.B2O3, NaOCN, MnCO3, CaCO3, an Li solvent, and alum.

CONSTITUTION: A mixed composition of Na2CO3, MgCO3, ZnO, MnO2, CaO.B2O3, NaOCN, MnCO3, CaCO3, Li solvent, and alum is used as modifier. This treating agent is put into a molten Al alloy and dispersed so as to improve the cast structure of the Al alloy. When the molten alloy treatment of Al alloy is carried out by use of this inorganic treating agent, the amount of precipitates in the cast structure is reduced, the precipitates are refined and spheroidized, and mechanical properties are improved.
