Abstract:
PURPOSE: To control insects injuring fruit vegetables or flowering plants by embedding or inserting a specific compound in the form of a shape composition prepared in advance in or into the stem of a plant.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [R is H, acyl, alkyl or (substituted) heteroarylalkyl; A is H, alkyl or divalent group bound to B; B is alkyl, S-R, of formula II or divalent group or atom bound to A; Y is N or of formula III [T1 is H or (substituted) alkyl]; X is electron-attracting group} e.g. N-cyano- N-2-chloro-5-pyridylmethyl)-N'-methylacetoamidine, is embedded in or inserted into the stem of a plant, in the form of a shape composition prepared in advance. The effective level of this compound is 1.0-4.0mg per one plant. The shape composition is, e.g. granular 1.0-3.0mm in particle size distribution, cylindrical, i.e., 0.5-3.0mm in diameter and 2.0-7.0mm in length, or of sharp-pointed rodlike design 0.5-3.0mm in diameter and 5.0-30.0mm in length.
