Abstract:

To materialize both characteristics placing importance on fuel consumption and torque responsivity in setting valve lift characteristics.

A fuel consumption preference mode target value operation part B2 computes a negative pressure control valve target opening tTVO, a target operating angle tVEL and a target central angle tVTC by a characteristic placing importance on fuel consumption on the basis of acceleration opening APO and rotation speed Ne. Similarly, a responsivity preference mode target value operation part B3 computes the negative pressure control valve target opening tTVO, the target operating angle tVEL and the target central angle tVTC by a characteristic placing importance on torque responsivity. A target value selection part B4 selects either target value from the fuel consumption preference mode target value operation part B2 or the responsivity preference mode target value operation part B3 to be outputted to the negative pressure valve and actuators in the first and second variable valve mechanisms on the basis of input of a mode selection switch B1 operated by a driver, respectively.
