PURPOSE: To facilitate an easy correction and editing of the original by providing the device to memorize the characters and symbols to the typewriter which clacks out the characters and symbols corresponding to the code signals supplied and controlling the device.

CONSTITUTION: The original sentence of the character row data which is tapped directly through typewriter 1 or sent from the paper tape is memorized in memory device 4. Then the line or character row number requiring correction and editing plus the corrected sentence are tapped by typewriter 1. After receiving the correction command, control unit 2 reads in the designated word and corrected word requiring correction and then compares the designated word number and the word number of the original sentence under being tapped through typewriter 1 with each other to give the renewal process to the tapping of the original sntence or the memory data until the comparison agreement is obtained. When the agreement is obtained, the alteration is given to the typewriter tapping and the memory data. And then the type tapping of the sentence after the corrected area of the original sentence is performed after correction of the fixed word number. Thus an easy correction and editing becomes possible through designation of the word number.
