Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3649188
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively remove particulate matters generated in a gasoline engine especially a lean-burn type gasoline engine.
SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine which performs the oxidation treatment of particulate matters generated associated with the combustion of gasoline in a combustion chamber by an exhaust emission control device installed in the exhaust passage, is equipped with an air-fuel ratio control switching means which switches stoichiometric feedback control to the side of stoichiometric air-fuel ratio where an amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas decreases to lean feedback control to a lean-burn side where an amount of oxygen increases much more, when an oxidation speed of the particulate matters in the exhaust emission control device installed in the exhaust passage is slow and the deposite quantity of the matters is large.
