PURPOSE: To heat intake air lowered in temperature after passing a turbine so as to attain the atomization of fuel and completeness of combustion in an internal combustion engine with the turbine and a generator provided at an intake passage by disposing a heating means downstream of the turbine in the intake passage.
CONSTITUTION: Intake air having passed the airflow meter 2 of an intake passage 1 rotates a turbine 4 and then passes a surge tank 3 so as to be supplied to the combustion chamber of an engine. In association with the rotation of the turbine 4, electrical power is generated at a generator 5, and the generated electricity is charged to a battery. The generator 5 is arranged on the way of a communication passage 8 which communicates a downstream part 6 of he turbine 4 in the intake passage 1 with a downstream part 7 more downstream from the downstream part 6. The temperature energy of the intake air is converted into the rotating energy of the turbine 4, so that the temperature energy lowered to low temperature is heat-exchanged with the temperature energy of the generator 5. The generator 5 is thereby cooled, and the intake air is heated.
