Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an ionomer and which achieves a remarkable improvement in hygroscopicity, and moreover, in softness while keeping excellent repulsive elasticity and to provide a golf ball material using the same.
CONSTITUTION: Potassium and bivalent metal (M) are used as ion source and an atomic ratio thereof is in a range of K/M=1/5 to 8/1. Using such materials, ionomer of an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer is produced with an acid unit content of 3-14mol% and neutrality of 20-90% as a whole and is blended to make a golf ball material. Thus, the material is hard to damage with excellent endurance to hitting, soft to improve hitting touch with better repulsive elasticity, and moreover, is lowered in hygroscopicity. So, it is useful as golf ball skin material.
