Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase high-temperature strength of a joining phase, lower coefficient of thermal expansion and reduce thermal stress in joining by forming the subject joining agent from silicon nitride, oxides of elements of groups IIa and IIIb in periodic table, oxide of yttrium, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective joining agent for silicon nitride ceramics is formed of 5-70vol.% silicon nitride and a residual amount of mixed oxides. The mixed oxides consists of 20-55mol% oxide of an element of group IIa, 0.1-20mol% oxide of an element of group IIIb, 0.1-20mol% oxide of a rare earth element including yttrium. The joining agent has sufficient joining strength even when used under high temperature and thermal stress in joining is reduced by lowering thermal in expansion coefficient of a joining phase.
