Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for knitting a knitted end part having improved stretchability and tensile strength of a place subjected to fray-proof treatment and obtain knitted fabric in which the knitted end part is subjected to a fray- proof treatment.
SOLUTION: In a welt stitch treatment laminating stitch of an end part of a knitted fabric knitted by using a weft knitting machine having at least a longitudinal pair of needle beds and constructing either of both of the needle beds to be capable of transversely sliding with a stitch of a hemstitched part, supplying yarn to the laminated stitch to form a stitch of next course on the hemstitched part, laminating a stitch of the freshly formed hemstitched part on the stitch of a next end part of the knitted fabric, supplying yarn to the laminated stitch to form a stitch of a next course of the hemstitched part, then repeating the knitting from one end side of the knitted fabric to the other end side, thus performing a fray-proof treatment on the stitch of the end part of the knitted fabric, the hemstitched part is composed of stitches having ≥3 wale number and the stitches of the wale existing stitches on both side are laminated with stitches of the end part of the knitted fabric.
