Abstract:

To determine if knocking is generated or not with favorable precision.

An engine ECU executes a step (S100) to detect waveform of engine vibration at a predetermined knocking detecting gate, a step (S102) to determine if a knocking waveform model stored in a memory coincides with the detected vibration waveform by a predetermine range or less, a step (S104) to determine that knocking has occurred in a case where the knocking waveform model coincides with the detected vibration waveform by the predetermined range or less (S102: YES), and a step (S108) to determine that no knocking has occurred in a case where the knocking waveform model does not coincide with the detected vibration waveform by the predetermined range or less (S102: NO).
