Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect knocking efficiently by extending connecting members in a radiated form from a knocking sensor installation section located within the angle, upon which a plurality of cylinders arranged in a V-type form looks out, and also by connecting the connecting members with the cylinder block at their extended ends.

CONSTITUTION: An engine block 1 is formed integrally together with a plurality of cylinder blocks 6 and 8 and the upper half of a crank case 4. And a plurality of cylinders 6aW6c, and 8aW8c is formed in series in each of the cylinder blocks 6 and 8 where these cylinders are arranged in a V like form. In this situation, the engine block 1 is formed with connecting members 30W40 in a radiated form where the members are connected at their one ends to that section of the block upper decks 26 and 28 which is corresponds to each cylinder, on the upper section of each of cylinder blocks 6 and 8, and the members are also connected at the other ends of them to the installation section 18 which is held between the cylinder blocks. And a knocking sensor 2 is installed on the top surface of the installation section 18.
