To enhance durability of a multilayer piezoelectric element by employing an external electrode of three layers or more.
In the multilayer piezoelectric element comprising a multilayer body formed by laying at least one piezoelectric and a plurality of internal electrodes alternately in layers, and a pair of external electrodes connected alternately with every other internal electrode on the side face of the multilayer body and being driven by applying an electric field to the external electrode, the external electrode is formed by laying three or more layers.
