To stably manufacture welded products without expending much cost of equipment and having no dislocation by using a yttrium aluminum-garnet(YAG) laser whose beam diameter is enlarged and the effective range of local depth of which is extended and contact profiling device for arc welding and forming long size members such as wide flange shapes made of a stainless steel sheet.
The member 2 to be welded of a long size sheet is placed on a table 1 and, while traveling a traveling truck 9 on which a profiling device 3 is placed on the rails 11 which are provided in parallel to a member 2 to be welded, welding is executed. At the time of welding, a detector 5 and laser beam machining head 6 are fixed to the arm 10 of the profiling device 3 and moved together with the traveling truck 9 and, when a weld line is detected with the contact detector 5, the laser beam machining head 6 is controlled so that the weld line is irradiated with a laser beam responding to that signal. The thickness of the member to be welded is defined as 1-6 mm and the length as ≥6 m and the diameter of the YAG laser beam is taken as 0.7-1.0 mm and the welding speed of the laser beam machining head as 300-2000 m/min.
