PURPOSE: To obtain an outer electrode excellent in solderability by a method wherein the outer electrode provided to each end face of a layered ceramic capacitor main body where dielectric ceramic and inner electrodes are layered is set smaller in surface roughness than a specific value.
CONSTITUTION: External electrodes 3a and 3b are formed of conductive paste burned body composed of conductive material, glass frit, and organic vehicle. Alloy such as silver-palladium alloy which contains 0 to 25% by weight of palladium is used as conductive material, and glass frit serves to bond the external electrodes 3a and 3b to a ceramic capacitor main body 2. The external electrodes 3a and 3b of a layered ceramic capacitor 1 are set lower than 1.07μm in average surface roughness, and it is preferable that the surface roughness is set to 0.4 to 0.7μm. By this setup, glass component is not exposed at the surface of the external electrodes 3a and 3b, so that the electrodes 3a and 3b are prevented from deteriorating in solder wettability due to glass component.
