Title:
LDPC DECODING APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3727938
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LDPC (Low Density Parity Code) decoding apparatus and a method thereof.
SOLUTION: In the method for performing LDPC decoding to a cord word which is transmitted via a channel and composed of c code bits, the method includes: a step (a) in which the code word and a parity check matrix of p×c size composed of a large number of "0" and "1" components are inputted, the code word and each of p rows composed of c components of the parity check matrix are compared, and a first Q matrix is prepared by replacing a component of which the component value is "1" with a code bit value at a position corresponding to the code word for each row; a step (b) in which an R matrix is prepared by replacing each non-zero component with a minimum value of the remaining non-zero component values except for the present component value while utilizing a first minimum value which is a minimum value of the non-zero components in each row, a second minimum value and a position of the first minimum value for each of rows of the first Q matrix; and a step (c) of outputting a decoded code word composed of c code bits by determining one code bit by adding the component values of the columns of the R matrix. Such an LDPC decoding method is utilized to lower complexity in arithmetic processes and to improve LDPC decoding performance.
