To produce the subject device at extremely low cost, to simply and easily move a wheelchair, on which a person sits down, onto and from an automobile at ease and to enable application to a private car to be used generally.

This lift device for wheelchair is provided with a vertical table 3 for placing a wheelchair 2, airbag 4 arranged under this vertical table 3 for moving the vertical table 3 upward, connecting hose 6 for freely attachably and detachably connecting the airbag 4 to a muffler 10 of an automobile 1, and exhaust valve for exhausting air charged into the airbag 4. In the state of placing the wheelchair 2 on the vertical table 3 and closing the exhaust valve, the lift device connects the connecting hose 6 to the muffler 10, charges exhaust gases from the muffler 10 into the airbag 4 and expands the airbag 4. The expanded airbag 4 moves the vertical table 3 upward and carries up the wheelchair 2. When moving the vertical table 3 down, the exhaust valve is opened and air in the airbag 4 is exhausted.
