PURPOSE: To elongate the life of a light image element using a thin film of poly- p-xylene or the like as an insulating film by sealing the element in a hermetically sealed container kept under an inert gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Light image element 13 using a poly-p-xylene thin film as an insulating film is placed in the hermetically sealed container composed of cylinder 11 made of glass or the like and glass windows 12, 12' each having a reflection preventing film. This container is evacuated to a vacuum through pipe 14, an inert gas of high purity is introduced, and after filling the container with the gas, pipe 14 is press bonded to seal the gas. Thus, by sealing element 13 in such a hermetically sealed container kept under an inert gas atmosphere, the characteristics of the insulating film are prevented from deteriorating, and the life of element 13 can be elongated.
