To provide a light source device for communication in which the wavelength fluctuations of output light is suppressed and the control method of the light source device for the communication.
In a WDM light source 10, a k-th laser oscillator 22-k is connected through a k-th filter 32-k to the demultiplex port of an I×N splitter 34. Also a mode synchronization laser 40 is connected to the multiplex port of the I×N splitter 34. In the WDM light source 10 of such a constitution, when the mode synchronization laser 40 is made to perform hybrid mode synchronization operation, light pulses P1 provided with the spectrum components of a wavelength λk={λ1+(k-1Δλ)} with less time fluctuation are obtained. For such optical pulses P1, a wavelength λk component is supplied via the I×N splitter 34 and the k-th filter 32-k to the k-th laser oscillator 22-k and the wavelength fluctuation of the output light of the laser oscillator 22-k is suppressed.
