To provide a lighting system capable of starting lighting control at a set time even if a remote control device is in a state of non-communication at the set time.
The lighting system comprises a lighting control section 606 for implementing a lighting control program so as to make a discharge lamp 7 perform a prescribed light-emitting action, a lighting device 2 having a receiving part 601 for receiving a setting signal requesting implementation of the light control program and a power supply circuit 21, and a remote control device 3 having a remote control transmission part 305 which transmits to the lighting device 2 a setting signal containing a setting instruction when an input of a setting instruction is received from a user by an operating part 301. The setting signal includes a starting time information showing the start time for the lighting control section 606 to start implementation of the light control program, and the lighting control section 606 starts implementation of the lighting control program based on the starting time information included in the setting signal received by the receiving part 601.
