To provide a bright lighting system by suppressing dispersion of luminance in a light emitting region when the area of the lighting system is increased.

A plurality of light emitting cells each comprising a first light emitting unit 14, an intermediate conductive layer 16, a second light emitting unit 18, and a first electrode 12 and a second electrode 20 sandwiching the light emitting units therebetween are formed and serially connected to one another on a substrate 10. The serial connection is formed into a structure where the second electrode 20a of the first light emitting cell 101 and the first electrode 12b of the second light emitting cell 102 are connected to each other in a second opening 19b formed in the light emitting unit. The intermediate layer 16 includes a structure formed in the inside without reaching the light emitting unit 14 and the other end of the light emitting unit 20. By virtue of this structure, influence of resistance loss caused by high resistivity of a transparent conductive film constituting the one-side electrode relative to that of a metal electrode constituting the other-side electrode can be prevented.
