To provide a line head which is excellent in assembly property, and can achieve a light exposure processing with a narrow width and a high accuracy, and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of inexpensively obtaining a high quality image.
The line head 13 includes: a first substrate 17 having light transmission properties; a plurality of light emitting elements 72 arranged in a first direction on one face side of the first substrate 71; a lens array 16 connected to the other face of the first substrate 71 through a plate-like spacer 17 with light transmission properties, and imaging a light from the light emitting element 72; a light shading member 19 provided so as to cover the spacer 17 from the opposite side of the first substrate 71 side; and a supporting member 6 provided on one face side of the first substrate 71. The line head is constituted so that the width of the spacer 17 in a second direction perpendicular or approximately perpendicular to the first direction is the width or larger than the width in the second direction of the first substrate 71, and the end in the second direction of the first substrate 71 is not projected to the outside more than the end in the second direction of the spacer 17.
