PURPOSE: To provide a line pressure control device for a vehicular automatic transmission, which can execute optimum speed change control by setting up line pressure at the time of deceleration with a slope concerned with down-hill running taken into consideration.

CONSTITUTION: At present, a speed change range is fixed, a driver does not select the range (S31), when a speed change range is a D range (S32), and furthermore when it is at the time of down-hill running (S33), an optimum line pressure PL, is set up in advance in response to vehicle speeds VSP (S35), and moreover, a correction factor K is read in, which corrects the line pressure P2, based on slope resistance (S36). Besides, while the range is being selected, maps for a range selection shall be used (S44 through S46).
