To reliably peel each label from the beltlike base paper of a label strip and to prevent the tear of the base paper from a break in the base paper in the peeling when the label strip is transported in the peeling direction by forming a plurality of slits in the base paper from the inside of the front edge of each label toward the outside in the peeling direction of the label when the plurality of labels are temporarily stuck to the beltlike base paper at pre scribed intervals to obtain the label strip.
When labels 3 are temporarily stuck to beltlike paper 8 at prescribed intervals to obtain a label strip 1a, a plurality of linear slits 9 of 1-5 mm length are formed in the base paper 8 from the inside of the front edge of each of the labels 3 toward the outside in the peeling direction of the labels (F1 direction) in such a way that the slits 9 are made nearly parallel to the longitudinal direction of the label strip 1a. Since the embedment of a pressure sensitive adhesive into the slit parts is suppressed, labels can be more easily peeled from the slit parts.
