Abstract:
PURPOSE:To select such a combination of two colors that the best contrast is obtained by setting a 1st polarizing plate 1 opposite a light source and laminating, and arranging a liquid crystal plate and a phase difference plate between the 1st polarizing plate and a 2nd polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:When elliptic polarized light passed through the 1st polarizing plate 29 and liquid crystal plates 27 and 28 is made incident on the 2nd polarizing plate 31, the intensity of vibration along the axis of polarization of the 2nd polarizing plate 31 differs with the wavelength, so when the wavelength enters the visual sensation range, the light passed through the polarizing plate 31 is observed while colored corresponding to its wavelength. Therefore, a liquid crystal display circuit supplies display data to the liquid crystal plates to control display operation, the background and an object such as characters are displayed in two different colors. Thus, the phase difference plates 30 and 32 are selected to select the combination of colors which optimize the contrast.
