PURPOSE: To reduce an area ratio of the whole display body panel and the display parting surface by providing a groove in the thickness direction of the side face of a panel glass for forming a liquid crystal display body panel, forming a metallic film in said groove, and connecting them to a display segment, respectively.
CONSTITUTION: As for a groove 10, a hole is made before cutting an external form of a panel glass, a metallic film 11 is formed on the inside surface of the hole by means of vapor deposition of a metal, spattering, etc., it is connected to a character electrode film on a panel glass plane, and thereafter, the external form of the panel glass is cut and completed. In this way, an input electrode 11 is formed on the side face of the panel glass. According to such a constitution, no input electrode exists on the plane, therefore, it is possible to reduce a ratio of a display parting area to the whole area of a liquid crystal display body.
