To provide a liquid crystal display device which adequately controls a backlight at a start of illumination.
The liquid crystal display device 100 includes a liquid crystal display part 10, and the backlight 20 for illuminating a back surface of the liquid crystal display part 10. The liquid crystal display device 100 includes a temperature sensor 240. The liquid crystal display device 100 includes a normal state control part 201, a first control part 211, and a second control part 212. The normal state control part 201 controls luminance of the backlight 20 based on a previously set condition. The first control part 211 increases luminance of the backlight 20 to the higher level than the luminance controlled and set by the normal state control part 201. The second control part 212 cancels the control by the first control part 211 after an elapsed time TL determined in response to temperature information TA acquired by the temperature sensor 240 at the start of the illumination by the backlight 20.
