In the liquid crystal display device, a backlight includes a light source unit formed by combining a light source, including a plurality of light-emitting elements mounted on a wiring board and a light guide plate for guiding the light of the light source toward a liquid crystal panel; and a metallic chassis provided with a positioning member for holding the light source unit. The wiring board and the light guide plate are positioned at the same time by the positioning member provided on the metallic chassis, and a plurality of the light source units are arrayed in the horizontal direction or in the vertical direction of the liquid crystal panel, according to the screen size.
