PURPOSE: To make bright image display with good image quality by providing this device with a cooling means injected with a flowable material in contact with a liquid crystal cell for image display.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid crystals 15 are driven by a liquid crystal driving element built into a liquid crystal driving element layer 14 and display is made in an image display section 1. The flowable material 16 which is a refrigerant circulates through a first region 2 which covers the image display section 1, a second region 3 which is disposed in a section exclusive of the image display section 1 and a connecting passage 4 which connects both regions 2, 3. Namely, absence of air bubbles in the flowable material 16 is required for the first region 2 where the image display section 1 exists. This region is provided with the second region 3 which prevents infiltration of the air bubbles into the first region 2 in the event of intrusion of the air bubbles. Further, sponge 6 of a prescribed pore size is installed in mid-way of the connecting passage 4. As a result, the infiltration of the air bubbles is prevented and the first region 2 is cooled. The liquid crystal display device having high heat resistance is thus obtd.
