PURPOSE: To considerably decrease the reflection at a transparent conductive film and improve the appearance of the device by employing predetermined sizes for the optical thickness of the transparent electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: The transparent electrodes of the liquid crystal display device consist of glass 1, transparent electrodes 2 and liquid crystal 3. The refractive indexes of the glass 1 and liquid crystal 3 are both 1.5 and to apply nonreflection coating by two layers, the refractive indexes of the two layers are made the same by known calculation formulas, then it results in that the conditions of nonreflection are satisfied and since this simply entails forming the respective layers into an optical thickness of λ/4 (here λ is the wavelength of the light desired to be decreased of reflection), it results in after all that the conditions are satisfied if these layers are formed into an optical thickness of λ/2. Namely, the reflection of the transparent conductive film 2 may be prevented by forming the transparent conductive film 2 into an optical thickness of λ/2, that is 2,500W3,000, thus the appearance of the liquid crystal device is improved.
