PURPOSE: To suppress the deterioration in display characteristics by making the transparent electrodes in a display part hardly visible and making the trans parent electrodes in terminal parts and alignment marks easily visible to facili tate alignment and to prevent the influence of the residues generated at the time of etching the transparent electrodes without increasing a production cost.
CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted by forming the transparent electrodes to a prescribed pattern form on a pair of transparent film substrates, forming oriented films on the transparent electrodes disposing a pair of the substrates opposite to each other in such a manner that the sides formed with the transparent electrodes position on the inner side, enclosing the peripheries between a pair of the substrates with a sealing material and sealing a liquid crystal between a pair of the substrates enclosed by this sealing material. The transmittance of the transparent electrodes in the terminal part of such element is set smaller than the transmittance of the transparent electrodes in the display part.
