Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the liquid crystal display element having a wide visual field angle.
CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted by encapsulating a liquid crystal A between a pair of transparent substrates 11 and 12 on which transparent electrodes 15, 16 and oriented films 17, 18 are formed, and subjecting the surfaces of these oriented films 17, 18 to a rubbing treatment to orient the liquid crystal molecules a in prescribed directions. Differences in level are formed by each of pixel part G where the transparent electrodes 15, 16 of both substrates 11, 12 face each other on the surfaces of the respective oriented films 17, 18. High-level regions H of a large height and low-level regions L of a small height are formed on the film surfaces by each of the respective pixel parts in accordance with these differences in level.
