Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. crystal display panel ensuring a wide angle of a visual field by bringing liq. crystal molecules into intrasurface driving.
SOLUTION: A chiral nematic liq. crystal is sealed in the space between a 1st substrate 11 and a 2nd substrate 12 so that the liq. crystal is homogeneously oriented. The twist angle between a 1st liq. crystal molecule 13A closest to the 1st substrate 11 and a 2nd liq. crystal molecule 13B closest to the 2nd substrate 12 is 0°. Since the liq. crystal is in a spray-oriented state under no impressed voltage and it is twisted by 360° when voltage is impressed, the liq. crystal transmits and shields light.
