Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY PANEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3718695
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the adverse effect on a diffraction grating caused by transparent electrodes and to increase the contrast by making the difference between the refractive indexes of the electrodes and a compensation film to be smaller than the difference between the normal refractive indexes of the electrodes and the liquid crystal material and the difference between the abnormal refractive indexes of the electrodes and the material.
SOLUTION: A comb-tooth shape transparent electrode 23, which is made of indium tin oxide, is formed on the opposing surfaces to a transparent substrate 1. Compensation plates 25 made at photosensitive resin are buried in the gap sections of the electrode 23. An oriented film 26 is formed on the surfaces of the electrode 23 and the plates 25. Moreover, a transparent electrode 11 and an oriented film 12 are laminated on the opposing surface of a transparent substrate 10. Then, a liquid crystal layer 30 is held between the films 12 and 26. Finally, the difference between the refractive index of the electrode 23 and the refractive index of the plate 25 is made smaller than either the difference between the refractive index of the electrode 23 and the normal refractive index of the material or the difference of the refractive index of the electrode 23 and the abnormal refractive index of the material.
