To provide a liquid crystal lens preventable the deterioration of optical performance due to external environmental variation such as generation of air bubbles at a low temperature.
The liquid crystal lens is provided with three transparent nearly cylindrical double-convex lenses 1 and flat plates 2, 3. These are joined via nearly toric sealing materials 41, 42 with spacers mixed therein. Liquid crystal layers 43, 44 are formed between the double-convex lens 1 and the flat plates 2, 3. On a part of the outer peripheral part of the double-convex lens 1, a groove 16 extending along the central axis of the double-convex lens 1 is provided. The groove 16 forms an injection port 6 which makes the liquid crystal layers 43, 44 communicate with external parts. The injection port 6 is end-sealed with a dumper film 45 flexible in the depth direction and an end-sealing material 46.
