To provide a liquid crystal module and a liquid crystal display capable of improving brightness and optical performance such as uniformity of brightness of a side-light system backlight through efficient use of light emitted from light-emitting elements, in ones equipped with transmission liquid crystal panels.
The liquid crystal module is provided with a transmission type liquid crystal cell, a light source device with a plurality of light-emitting elements arrayed in a row on a substrate, a light guide plate equipped with a light-incident face for light emitted from the light source to be incident and a light-emitting face for emitting light incident from the light-incident face, and a frame retaining a peripheral part of the liquid crystal cell and the light source device, and at the same time, equipped with a protruding part positioned in the vicinity of the light source device and protruding in a direction from the light source device toward the light guide plate.
