Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable accurate and continuous detection of a position of a surface of a liquid maintained at a high or low temperature by a method wherein a float floating in a subtank rises or falls with a vertical movement of the liquid surface to interlock the action of the float with a float position transmitting member. CONSTITUTION:A float 2 floating in a subtank 1 rises or falls with a vertical movement of a liquid surface and the action of the float 2 is interlocked with a float position transmitting member 3 so that the position of the member 13 is converted into quantity of electricity to determine the position of the liquid surface in the tank 1. Then, an arithmetic device 5 calculates the position of the surface of a liquid in a liquid tank based on liquid temperatures of both the liquid and a thermal expansion coefficient of the liquid as determined with a device 4 for determining the position of the liquid surface in the subtank, a detector 7 for liquid temperature in the subtank and a detector 6 for liquid temperature in the liquid tank. In this manner, the position of the surface of a liquid to be held in a liquid tank widely in general containing those maintained at a high or low temperature can be detected accurately and continuously under a smooth operation.
