Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which can operate a pressure type current interruption mechanism reliably by generating more gas efficiently, when the positive electrode potential exceeds a gas generation potential.SOLUTION: A battery 100 includes a pressure type current interruption mechanism 170, and a nonpolar gas generation agent 118 which generates gas when the positive electrode potential Ea of an electrode body 120 exceeds a gas generation potential Ec. The positive electrode active material layer 123 of a positive electrode plate 121 constituting the electrode body 120 contains carbon black 126 where at least some of functional groups on the surface thereof are low polarity functional groups having a polarity lower than that of a hydroxy group.
