Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new lithium manganese spinel, to provide a method for producing the same, and further to provide a manganese lithium secondary battery excellent in cycling characteristics and having a high capacity by using the lithium manganese spinel as an anode.
SOLUTION: The lithium manganese spinel wherein the value of a lattice constant a0 assigned to a cubic Fd3m is expressed by an inequality: 8.11 angstrom ≤ a0 ≤ 8.13 angstrom. The method for producing the lithium manganese spinel comprises mixing manganese dioxide having a β-type crystal structure with a lithium compound in a Mn/Li molar ratio of 1.0-1.8 and subsequently thermally treating the mixture at a temperature of ≤350°C. And the secondary battery uses the lithium manganese spinel as the anode.
