Abstract:
To provide a positive electrode active material including a lithium nickel-containing composite oxide coated with a compound containing W and Li, having excellent battery characteristic without marring the crystallinity, where a fine particle and/or coating of the compound containing W and Li is present on a surface of a primary particle.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises the step of preparing a lithium nickel-containing composite oxide by mixing a nickel compound and a lithium compound into a lithium-mixed material and then, increasing the temperature of the lithium-mixed material from a room temperature to a baking temperature equal to or higher than 700°C under an oxidizing atmosphere. In the preparing step, an eluted Li amount of a lithium nickel-containing composite oxide obtained under the condition of the passing time and/or holding time being set to be 45 minutes or a shorter time in a temperature region where the temperature of the lithium-mixed material is 600-650°C, followed by stirring and filtering the resultant mixture is in a range of 0.3 mass% to 0.5 mass%. The lithium nickel-containing composite oxide is used as a base material to form a fine particle and/or coating of a compound containing W and Li on the surface of a primary particle thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None
