Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the dust preventive performance in a rear end part of a front cap in a live center, into which a rotary shaft having a workpiece supporting head is inserted, and is rotatably supported by an outer sleeve via bearings.
SOLUTION: A thrust bearing 4 is disposed between the back face of the head of the rotary shaft 2 and a large diameter portion 3a provided at the tip end part of the outer sleeve 3. A front cap 10, which covers the thrust bearing 4 and the large diameter portion 3a of the outer sleeve 3, is connected to the rotary shaft 2 so as to integrally rotate together with the rotary shaft 2. A dust preventive cap 12, which covers, from the rear side, a gap c formed between the rear end part of the front cap 10 and the large diameter portion 3a of the outer sleeve 3, is provided at the rear end part of the front cap 10 so as to integally rotate together with the front cap 10. An annular groove m is formed at the rear end part of the large diameter part 3a of the outer sleeve 3 so as to face rearward, and an annular flange 12a which engages with the annular groove m is provided at the dust preventive cap 12.
