PURPOSE: To make a turret lightweight to enable the turret to smoothly carry out its rectilinear motion and rotation, by providing a plurality of live tools on the turret, and by rotating the plurality of live tools with the use of only one drive source.

CONSTITUTION: Various tools are set on each surface of a turret 1, including live tools 2 which are rotated by themselves. A turret bar 3 secured to the turret 1 is inserted slidably and rotatably in a cross-slide 4. The turret 1 may be moved in both directions of X-axis 8 and Y-axis 9 for the purpose of movement of the turret 1 relative to a workpiece 7 gripped by a chuck 6 on a spindle 5. When a motor 15 for rotating the live tools are rotated, a rotary shaft 16 is rotated so that the live tools 2 are rotated by means of a transmission mechanism. When the live tools 2 approach a workpiece 7 and then make in contact with the workpiece, the workpiece is subjected to a mealing process, a tap drill process, etc.
