Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and appropriate regional disaster prevention system capable of alleviating tsunami damage and securing an evacuation site for local residents to safely evacuate.SOLUTION: In a regional disaster prevention system, a multitude of large scale mounds 1 which are constructed in a shape of a circular truncated cone by filling earth and function as breakwaters are arranged along a coastal line at intervals in an area expected to be hit by a tsunami; or a multitude of large scale mounds 2 which are constructed in the shape of the circular truncated cone by filling the earth and capable of being used as evacuation sites when a disaster strikes are dispersedly arranged at intervals in an area expected to have damage due to the disaster such as the tsunami. Both of the mounds 1 as the breakwaters and the mounds 2 as the evacuation sites are preferably used in a coastal area. The mound may have an underground hollow section inside thereof, a passage leading to the underground hollow section, or a tower-like structure at the top.
