PURPOSE: To harden a ram locally so as to prevent wear and deformation, by hardening the guide grooves and the surface, which is in contact with shank, of a forging machine by high frequency waves or flame.

CONSTITUTION: The surface layer 3 of a guide groove 1, and the surface layer 4 of a surface 2 in contact with a shank, of the ram, which has been manufactured by the heat treatment and the machining of cast steel or forged steel, of a forging machine are hardened by induction hardening or flame hardening. This treatment allows to increase the wear resistance, strength, and to prevent the formation of crack, in addition, to prevent wear and deformation.
