Title:
LOW SPATTER STEEL WIRE FOR WELDING AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09141487
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide low spatter steel wire for welding in which cracks of tortoiseshell shape having a large opening in a surface part of a steel wire are small in number, the feedability and plating adhesivity, are remarkably improved, the amount of generated spatter is small, and the arc stability is excellent.

In a steel wire for welding, the inner oxidized layer is provided in the surface part of the steel wire, 1-20ppm potassium is contained, the oxygen increase from the surface of the steel wire to the depth of 0.1mm is ≤100ppm, the mean length of cracks of ≥1μm in width present in the steel wire surface is ≤12μm, the low spatter property is provided, and the plating adhesivity and wire feedability is excellent. The wire can be realized by applying 0.5-10wt.% aqueous solution of potassium carbonate to the steel wire stock after the intermediate drawing, and then, annealing it in the oxidizing atmosphere containing steam and oxygen. In the aqueous solution, of potassium carbonate 0.001-1wt.% potash soap may be added.
