Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the lubrication performance of an hourglass worm gear.
CONSTITUTION: The tooth flank 22 of an hourglass worm 21 and the tooth flank of a wheel are formed with two kinds of curved surfaces on the addendum side and the dedendum side, contact lines concurrently appear between both tooth flanks into a loop shape to form a closed space, the space is moved as engagement proceeds, the volume of the space is reduced as engagement proceeds to cause the pump effect, and an oil escape gap is provided on the dedendum side of the closed space.
