To meet the need for a lubricating oil capable of dispersing a large amount of sludge, which has arose along with the spread of compact, high-performance engines in recent years, as sludge formation cannot be avoided in engine oils and, although the formed sludge can be dispersed using dispersants such as alkenyl succinimide, sludge formation increases under high-temperature conditions produced by operation at high-speed rotation, and it is difficult for existing dispersants to completely disperse the increased amount of sludge.
The lubricant oil composition comprises a novel phosphomolybdenum compound and the existing dispersants, i.e. alkenyl succinimides. By adding the novel phosphomolybdenum compound, the lubricant oil composition exerts an excellent dispersing performance, even at elevated temperatures, and reduces the amount of sludge that used to be formed in large amounts in high-temperature regions.
