PURPOSE: To provide a lubricating oil composition for use in a can which has good degreasing and molding properties useful for molding a can body material by adding a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether nonionic surfactant to an aluminum cold rolling oil.

CONSTITUTION: An aluminum cold rolling oil is prepared, for example, by compounding mineral oil with an aliphatic alcohol (e.g. lauryl alcohol) and a fatty acid ester. Then, a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether (e.g. polyoxyethylene lauryl ether) nonionic surfactant is added to the aluminum cold rolling oil to prepare a lubricating oil composition for use in a can. The amount added of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether should adequately be about 1-5%. The lubricating oil composition is used for coating the surface of a can body material before molding the material into a drink can, etc.
