Abstract:
To provide a machine translation learning method which allows for control of a translation start timing taking into consideration a tradeoff between reduction in delay and improvement in translation accuracy, in machine translation for translating to a target language and outputting without waiting for input completion of an original language sentence.SOLUTION: A pair is input consisting of a symbol string obtained by dividing an original language sentence by tokenizing, and a symbol string obtained by dividing a target language sentence being a parallel translation of the original language sentence by tokenizing. Next, an input sequence is input, and a sequence is output that predicts a symbol of the target language forming a translation of the input sequence according to a translation model at a timing which allows for translation output, and further, a delay symbol for delaying an individual translation output of the input sequence is added to the prediction symbol on a target language side, so that a delay symbol is output into an output sequence at a timing not allowing for translation output. An objective function based on an error loss of a correct answer symbol string on a target language side of the input sequence and a prediction symbol string of the output sequence, and an error loss based on an output step number of the delay symbol, is calculated as optimization index, in order to update parameters of a learning unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
