PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium metal battery capable of achieving output stability and higher output.SOLUTION: A magnesium metal battery includes: a negative electrode 1 including magnesium or a magnesium alloy, as a negative electrode active material; a separator 2 of a liquid absorbing dielectric; a positive electrode layer 3 including a carbon material having hydrophilicity; a water-repellent positive electrode layer 4 comprising a material having water repellency and conductivity; and a positive electrode collector plate 5. The water-repellent positive electrode layer 4 includes a catalyst carrying layer provided such that a catalyst is localized on a positive electrode layer 3 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
