Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate seek and read errors by varying the curvature and the arrangement of FPC so that tension to be applied onto a carriage by the FPC is minimized even when the carriage seeks the inner and outer peripheries thereby enhancing the positioning accuracy through servo loop. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 6 is supported by a carriage 1 rotatable around a rotary shaft through a suspension 5. An FPC for introducing a signal from the magnetic head to an external control circuit has one end secured to the carriage 1 and the other end secured to a clamp 40. The FPC has movable part formed into a helical spring having one or more turns. With such constitution, external force is reduced and aforementioned objects can be achieved.
